The Women's Conchman Trophy changed hands as Holly Northup finished ahead of the defending champion, Ada Lester. Sixteen year old competitor, Jacienda Mireault, took second place while Ada held on for third. Bruce Ruddock led home the Americans by finishing fourth overall behind two Bahamians and a Dane. He took home the 30-39 age group crown. Pamela Hamacher made a successful return to Triathlon Competition by finishing second in the 30-39 Female Age Group. Following closely behind was Ellen Ruddock in third. Jack Tansey finished second in the highly competitive 50-59 age group; He was followed by Allen Lester in fourth.
Ironman World Championships 2000

Local Triathletes, Jill Riblett, Carlos Moleda, Sarah Moleda, Max Carroll (now of C-Ville but we still claim him) and Naoto Yoshimura competed in Ironman Hawaii. Naoto finished in the top 200. While Carlos finished in 2nd place in the closely contested Physically Challenged Category. Click here to see results of all the Virginians who competed.
Duathlon Worlds
Bee Andrews and her support crew, Goody Tyler, traveled to France in early October so that Bee could compete in the highly challenging Duathlon Worlds. Cold and windy weather on a mountainous bike course made for an interesting bike leg. Bee placed 11 place in the 35-39F age group, quite a  respectable showing. 
Triathlon Nationals September 9, 2000
Mark Cockrell accepted the challenge and headed to the hills of Missouri for the Olympic Distance National Age Group Championships. He finished 15th in the extremely competitive field of 20 to 24 Males.
Mrs T's International Triathlon 
Mark Cockrell, Cappy Sinclair and Mike Wilson competed in the infamous Mrs T’s in Chicago. Mark and Cappy had spectacular races finishing 6th and 15th in the 20-24M age group. There were 89 competitors. However, the really impressive stat is that Mark was 21st overall out of 2236 and Cappy was 76th overall. Great Racing!
Ironman Lake Placid

CONGRATULATIONS to all local Ironman Lake Placid participants!!!  Early results from Lake Placid where Ironman USA took place on July 30th show that two of our local athletes, Naota Yoshimura and Max Carroll, both qualified for Hawaii.  Naota finished 32nd overall and was 3rd among 35-39 Men. Max was the 56th finisher and took 8th in his age group to earn one of the coveted 9 Hawaii Ironman slots. Max averaged over 21 mph on the bike. Naota ran an impressive 3:13:48 for the marathon. In addition, both athletes had negative splits on the two loop run course. 

Apple Duathlon

Congratulations to Bee Andrews. Although Bee had already qualified for Worlds at Powerman Alabama, she took a shot at the National Championship Title in the hills of Sartell, Minnesota on July 8. Bee finished an impressive 7th overall and 2nd in her age group. The Championship race consisted of a 10k Run, 42k Bike and a 5k Run.
Clydesdale World Championships
Congratulations to Jill Riblett, who won the first ever Clydesdale World Championships on June 18. At the Pepsi MAX Royal Windsor Triathlon, Jill was not only the first female in the Clydesdale Category but was actually the 3rd Overall Clydesdale. For her efforts at this Olympic Distance race, Jill is receiving a customized bike especially fitted for her. Great Job, Jill!
